Bucharest to Amsterdam, 3.5 weeks including a 3 day visit to Transylvania for everything that is/isn’t Dracula.
Modern boats, and thankfully many of them which was useful as the Danube/Main section was low and we had to swap to another Viking boat to continue to Amsterdam – smooth and trouble free, very well organised.
All the boats are identical so we had the same cabin and knew the layout of the new boat.
Crew excellent, included excursions very good and a great range of optional ones too.
The only downside was losing the sun deck for 3 days due to ‘low bridges’.
The distance between the top of the wheel house and some of the bridges could be as little as the height of a mobile phone so we could understand why the sun deck was closed.
Unfortunately the outside space is then greatly reduced unless you had a balcony cabin.
About 30 locks of various lengths and heights to go through too.
Overall an excellent experience of visiting Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia , Hungary, Austria, Germany and Holland
