1st time cruiser with my 20yr old son

Overall, I was really impressed with the ship ,the cleanliness ,the staff ,the communication & 95%of the food .
We were free diners& food in Meridien & Peninsula was tasty & well cooked
Our standout speciality restaurant was the Glass House
We went twice
The steaks were delicious
Not so sure about all the wine recommendations but other wines were available & more my palate
Cabin was roomy for two and everything worked
This was in school term time so only toddlers & babies on board but I gather-its very family orientated in school
Holidays so atmosphere might be much busier
Predominantly retirement age or matures
Some young couples
My son enjoyed the experience despite him being in the minority
He liked the novelty of a cruise the food & drinks & we both loved
all the ports visits
Croatia is clean & the old towns unspoilt
We found small beaches & even a swimming pool filled by the sea
Though cold we went in as weather was super too
Improvements
My son would have liked a bit more variety in the gym equipment
I would have liked more workout classes personally
As a 1st time cruiser I felt a bit unclear what to do once we got on board , go to reception , report to a place as this wasnt commincated
A person on deck 4 gangway to advise would have helped
Apparently once the room is ready you can go direct

Everyone was very friendly
Staff worked really hard were usually helpful
Drinks service could have been faster
Buffet food was ok not to restaurant standard & available ,though we were once almost turned away at breakfast 10 mins before actual closing time !
Also as others mentioned the cakes & deserts looked nice but seriously lacked flavour disappointingly so we avoided them
I would cruise with P& O again
