I never expected the P&O standards to fall as much as they have since before lockdown.
The first problem was embarkation where we had to unload our cases ourselves, get a trolley and they try to find the correct luggage conveyor, quite exhausting after a 200 mile journey.
The cabin was a good size but very noisy once the ship was in motion.
Having been described as a “prime” cabin this was annoying.
The deck manager was unable to source and fix the problem so we were given an inside cabin on the same floor in which to sleep and still keep our own cabin.
Not an ideal solution, but the best we could get in the circumstances.
The problem was eventually fixed on a penultimate evening.
Overall the idea of freedom dining and having to book everthing via an “app” which was poorly crafted was a pain.
The dining in the “included” restaurants was really poor, with limited choices, laughably small portions and slow service.
We would have used the Extra payment choices but booking was a joke.
The Horizon buffet was good with lots of choice and selection of roasts even at lunchtime.
The entertainment was holiday camp stuff and the bars like “Brodies” was grim.
The swimming pools have been replaced with hot tubs around the ship which is OK if you like sharing your bath with all and sundry.
All the little niceties have gone.
I don’t know why we took evening wear there was nowhere appropriate to wear it.
The cocktail parties have been replaced with a voucher for a glass of house wine.
Whoopee.
Overall very disappointed.
