We enjoyed the holiday. The ports were very good, particularly Istanbul. The two night stays were excellent. The food was good, particularly the speciality restaurants, but no better than other cruise lines and definitely not 6 star. The cabins were clean and we enjoyed the extra space. The steward was very attentive as they usually are on other cruise lines. The shops had limited opening which was inconvenient. The onboard entertainment team were enthusiastic amateurs and disappointing with the exception of the Cruise Director Beven Adinsall who was an Australian child TV star and an all round very good entertainer. The biggest disappointment were some of the other passengers. Whilst accepting that not much can be done about them, of the 440+ passengers, 180 were Malaysian. The majority of them had no social etiquette whatsoever eg pushing in whilst queuing, blocking doors in lifts, being loud and obnoxious. One man threatened an Australian chap with a knife when he told him to be quiet. They spoilt the cruise for us. Even passengers who have sailed with Regent many times before said that if it had been their first time they would not have returned. This feedback was provided to Regent on board in response to their request. In our opinion Azamara are better.
