Seven Seas Mariner

My wife and I just returned from Honeymoon having sailed on the Regent Mariner.

We have been lucky enough to have sailed 3 times with Seabourn, whose newer ships are truly fantastic and rightly earn the acclaim they get as being 6*.

I was persuaded by my Bolsover agent that Regent were every bit as good and as the dates were more convenient we booked the Regent Navigator for our honeymoon.

Tired, dated, carpets filthy with very large water stains, bored crew, the list is endless.

the ship cannot cope with 700 passengers in respect of dining.

It has only 100 covers in La Veranda and 160 between the 2 speciality restaurants.

(you can only book them once each on the cruise) we were left standing in a queue to get into restaurants irrespective of the varied time we went to dine.

There was no silver service it was served complete, often warm at best cool mainly.

The entertainment consisted of the ships theatre company bar one night in 10 when there was a amusing magician.

Boring particularly as the cost of the holiday was nearly €10,000 we had hoped for something better.

The staff were bored, which was reflected in the fact that they were just not attentive.

Drinks at bars had to be asked for several times, cool towels were not served on deck despite the temp’s, The deck chairs were old aluminium relaxers which are not comfortable to lie on for very long.

the room suites were tired and whilst they were cleaned very well every day they were not “comfortable” as they were tired the furniture old and the facilities poor.

We enjoyed ourselves because it was our honeymoon and we met some lovely people but it could have been so much better.

At best a 4 1/2 * rating.

Not worth the money by a long way
