So great to see places we’ve never been to in our lovely country! The itinerary was great although high winds stopped the ship from docking in Guernsey which was a disappointment.
The Regal Princess is a lovely ship, we particularly liked the piazza areas and surrounding bars.
However, it lacked a large bar on an upper deck that you find on the P&O ships.
There wasn’t enough seating and entertaining areas.
The one lounge rarely had evening entertainment apart from using it for films, not fully utilised.
Daytime activities sadly lacking.
Evening however was a different matter! Some of the best shows we’ve seen and the theatre is of a good size.
They had a great band most evenings in the Piazza and other musical entertainment was very good.
Our main ‘gripe’ was the food, very mediocre I’m afraid.
The service in the main dining rooms was also quite slow.
We resorted to using the buffet quite a lot in the evenings, not something we normally do.
Everything was very expensive, excursions were extortionate! We did all our own thing.
We find that the Princess line caters mainly for the American market and taste to the detriment of other nationalities on board.
All in all we enjoyed our cruise, loved most of the destinations but probably wouldn’t choose Princess again unless it was an itinerary we were particularly interested in.
