We sailed with Celebrity Cruises on board Celebrity Equinox.
This will be a short review.
We enjoyed the cruise with the positives being Aquaclass benefits Ie. Blu Restaurant and the stateroom. Muranos, Martini Bar, and World Class Bar continue to excel.
Using Celebrity flight arrangements was a mistake. Arriving in Barcelona at 11.30 Barcelona time it was 13.20 before we arrived at the ship, immigration and collecting baggage at the airport was completed in 40 minutes, the balance of time was down to Celebrity.
On arrival at the ship we joined a queue 4-500 mts long in the Barcelona Sun and 11/4 hours later cleared check in. A great advert for the Celebrity claim of ‘Check in in advance and avoid the queues. Our luggage arrived at our cabin at 16.30. Their Logistics leave a lot to be desired.
Perhaps I am being over critical but for Elite Plus passengers in their 80’s their organisation was a disgrace.
Other standout issues were
a) Wi-Fi is not fit for purpose and is a rip off. Whether it is the age of the ship but the fact they no longer man the E Lounge may indicate the lack of importance to them.
b) The Tuscan Restaurant is passed it’s best. It may be in a prime position on the ship but that is where the attraction ends.
Serving half cooked food to us resulted in the Maitre Di offering a complimentary table for the next evening as compensating which we accepted, but after reconsidering we cancelled and decided to go to Blu to be sure of quality food.
Overall the cruise was enjoyed and the issues on board did not detract from that enjoyment.
