Despite the exceptionally high cost of this cruise, we throughly enjoyed our Scandinavian 11 night cruise in June 2025.
Having never been on The Edge class we were looking forward to discovering new and exciting destinations along with the newest ship we have ever been on.
We both prefer around a 3,000 capacity ship or less as these tend not to be a free for all at the buffet dining main room.
First impressions of the Apex was impressive.
The infinite veranda balcony cabin was our first and possibly our last as we prefer a traditional balcony.
Yes, it created an illusion of a larger room, but the mechanism on the window was noisy, requiring some WD40 along with the blind, the window was dirty for the full cruise, to take any photographs we had to noisily bring the window down.
The wardrobe configuration was odd with a lower hanging rail, which wasn’t fit for anything, this meant long dresses were creased at the bottom, not really big enough.
The air conditioning was annoying as this could not be switched off unless the window was left slightly open all night, which left the room cold.
Left on all night meant we both had sore throats the next day.
A magnifying mirror would have been useful in the bathroom.
The shower cubicle was larger than most.
The cabin steward was very attentive and kept our room clean and tidy, bringing an umbrella on the morning it was raining.
The entertainment onboard was absolutely amazing, from the Irish singing (lupping) instrumentalist comedian and his wife, The Barricade Boys, the spectacular Caravan acrobatics and much much more.
The activities during sea days were varied, always something for everyone even on a port day if you didn’t want to get off.
We also seemed to find a quiet place and new areas to discover each day.
The longest outside pool was refreshing to swim in.
Let’s not forget the Silent Disco.
(my favourite)
We had breakfast most mornings at The Cosmopolitan restaurant, calm and relaxed with wonderful staff.
We had a choice of four restaurants for our evening meals, The Tuscan, Normandie,Cypress and Cosmopolitan all of which were excellent.
The main dining room was always available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Cafe al Bacio was great for beverages, tiny filled rolls, delicious cakes and cookies.
(deck 4 and MDR)
The destinations were the main reason we booked this cruise as we have never been to any of Scandinavia.
The ports were fabulous to see and two excursions were extremely interesting and full of history.
Thank you Bolsover for yet another wonderful experience.
You are slowly guiding us both around this fantastic world we live in and have yet to discover with your help and guidance.
