We have been on over 50 cruises, and this cruise exceeded our expectations.
We chose to hire local guides , and as we are over 70,several friends thought we were eccentric , and advised us not to do so .
It was simply an amazing experience , as we were able to get into the local culture and cuisine.
The main attraction was to see the historical vestiges of the American war , but of course we had to understand the French , and Chinese History , to fully grasp , the scene at that time.
It was totally fascinating, and we realised that Vietnam, is 3 countries in 1,each one with its own individual character, and thanks to our guides we enjoyed each sector to the full.
We had a private Sanpan tour of Halong Bay[surely one of the Worlds beauty spots, and had a freshly prepared magnificent seafood lunch on board[all for just a few pounds]which is now a lifetime memory.
we were able to see first hand the planes ,helicopters, guns and the actual sites of the American war, including the Coo Chi tunnels,.which are truly unique.
I even fired actual guns left from the war.
Although not a warmonger ,it was a privilege to be allowed to observe the nature of the Vietnamese people Best cruse ever
