Sadly many experiences on the ship from embarking to disembarking were poor.
Chaos parking at Tilbury, curt port staff in the terminal.
But worst of all, I was expecting the ‘warmest welcome at sea’ yet not a single member of crew said welcome aboard – it was the complete antithesis of welcome: some were rude and many avoided eye contact.
It was a full day before a member of crew even said hello when walking past.
Worst was when asking for a deck plan and being shooed away by a member of management.
Never saw our cabin steward, yet a towel animal appeared last night next to the survey form!
Main dining room experiences very poor, raw fish which was met with a shrug, service very slow, portions small and ‘fussy’ eg a cranberry gel was a smear and chutney was a dot.
Buffet area was nice, food better but crew experience hit and miss.
Cabin and ship clean.
Nicely decorated for Christmas but entertainment had no real Christmas feel.
Cabin TV pointless, nothing other than ship camera and all functions that didn’t work.
No menu for TV, limited channels with nothing of note to view.
Disembarkation information unclear and huge queues to get off with some people sent back as they’d put in their slip for express disembarkation with luggage transfer to dock, but this is apparently different to express disembarkation (called same thing) and their luggage wasn’t ready.
It was chaos, and no staff sorting the very long queues snaking around the whole of deck 5.
Loved going to Antwerp.
An excellent port stop at Christmas.
Glad we didn’t do the excursions as table companions had a very poor experience.
There is absolutely plenty to do in Antwerp, so much to see.
No way we’d travel with Ambassador again, but I’d totally recommend visiting Antwerp.
